what's in a name ?

. . . an archmage of avalir during the age of arcanum at the height of arcane exploration. a chronomancer possessing the ability to bend time and space. when his world fell to ruins on the eve of the calamity ( war between the prime deities and betrayer gods ), he used his magic to escape and accidentally thrust himself through space and time.

* loras is a critical role npc; the original setting for his story is in exandria. however, i've set him up to be flexible / adaptable and can easily drop him in other official dnd, homebrew, or fantasy settings. also very au friendly, love a collaborative worldbuilding.

NEED TO KNOW . . .

// loras is a MINOR NPC from the critical roles miniseries exandria unlimited: calamity. there are all but three scenes of him and very little canon information is known. 90% of his background and details of his character featured on this blog are my own.// he should be considered 100% an OC in the bg3 verse as the only thing i took from the original is his name and loose physical description.// my rendition of loras is a CHRONOMANCER which is a 2e wizard subclass, although he follows most all 5e rules otherwise. this choice is made in accordance to his backstory where he came from a flourishing arcane past and possessing arcane knowledge that are now considered "lost."// any potentially dangerous or harmful ic interactions will be discussed / plotted ooc before proceeding.

PREMISE . . .

. . . “loras of the weaver's mask is a beautiful, raven-haired elven man who wears a partial mask over his face. his cloak is of red and green and gold and purple, carved with many bright colors, and as his hands move through space, you can almost see strings trailing from them, fading translucently into magic. ... the arcane power commanded by loras is overshadowed by almost no one, with the exception of eldamir the wise.” (exerpt from exc: calamity)loras is a chronomancer, specializing in magic that manipulates time and space. he is a master in the now lost art of chronomancy.when the tree of names was sundered and avalir fell, he was trapped in a wall of force by loquatius seelie. the wall of force protected him from the worst blasts and bought him a moment. to escape the impending doom, he pulled on all of his magic and warped himself somewhere else —

WHAT NOW . . .

. . . the magic thrust him through space and time. it takes him off avalir, away from the shattering of domunas ... but it also causes irreparable damage to his magic. he has seizures, and every time it happens, he runs the risk of accidentally warping somewhere, sometime else ...considering loras is, essentially, a time traveler, i can slot him into any timeline or campaign. his primary goal is to get back to the age of arcanum and the city he spent so much time climbing to the top of. but that does not mean it's a feasible or even advisable goal ...i enjoy plotting as well as winging it / improvising for surprise discoveries. either way, i'm very open to writing loras as an ally, antagonist, frienemy, etc in your character's story.
